Many of our guests are quite happy just to stay in Cartmel, and enjoy its riches. The home of sticky toffee pudding including its own village shop, our 12th century Priory, the famous racecourse and of course the No1 rated restaurant in the whole country; the Michelin starred L’Enclume and Rogans. Unsworth Yard with its own wine shop/bar, bakery, cheese shop and micro brewery is also well worth a visit.
With countless pubs and gift shops, Cartmel’s medieval village is a gorgeous picture postcard, a ‘thimble full of diamonds’ to wander round.
This lovely Victorian seaside town, steeped in grandeur and possessing its own micro climate. The wonderful promenade, park and lake, bandstand and large number of independent shops make this a lovely place to wander round. Famous Hazelmere Tea Rooms and Higginsons the butchers are must visits.
National Trust country park that offers access to the shores of Lake Windermere. Stop off for a picnic, hire a rowing boat or simply admire the views. Maybe even a wild swim? A good adventure playground for kids and lovely cafe.

Cartmel Priory is the parish church of Cartmel, Cumbria. Founded in 1189, the Priory is open daily and has been a place of pilgrimage for more than 800 years. As a focal point of village life it also hosts concerts and events.
